Chard Childcare
Chester’s House Childcare is a privately owned setting based in the market town of Chard, Somerset. Initially established in 2007 as a childminding business it quickly grew to become a thriving, 20 place nursery. Based as part of the family home, Chester’s House Childcare provides a unique family atmosphere and is the ideal setting for children that need the personal and caring attention of a childminder.
What we do
We celebrate the fact that all children are unique and have a diverse set of needs, preferences, and learning styles. All the staff are dedicated to providing an environment that treat children as individuals.
Child-led Learning
With a mixture of free play and planned activities we follow the child’s lead at all times, giving them the freedom to take their learning in whatever direction they choose.
Tapestry Software
We use the latetst software to record, monitor, and share your child’s progress
Tailored Activity Plan
Through regular reviews and observations each child has a tailored activity plan that is appropriate for their ability and style of learning.
School Transition
To prepare your child for school, we have English and Mathematics programmes for pre-school children as well as transition planning with local reception teachers.
EYFS
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is at the heart of our setting. All our planning and observations are carefully linked to the EYFS for all children aged five and under.
Language
For children that have English as an additional language, we offer specialised programmes to ensure they engage with learning. We regularly work with translators to help staff, children and parents communicate more effectively.

Our staff Chester's House are highly trained. Education and care standards are outstanding with only the very best staff being employed. Personal development of our team is vital with succession planning in place to always try and promote from within the organisation.
Chester House Facilities
Chester House is situated within a large townhouse with garden space in the centre of Chard. The centre is fully equipped with interactive learning tools, games and plenty of toys.
